Glow Box Reef Lights
An ocean rescue became a challenge in building, light, and persistence.
A completed ocean scene lantern, illuminated from within.
The reef had gone dark in Hootenannyâs story, and the childrenâs task was to make lanterns that could help its creatures find their way. They worked with boxes, tissue paper, cellophane, stickers, and lights to create ocean scenes.
The real materials brought their own challenges. A breeze made tissue paper difficult to cut, and some stickers were stubborn even for the adults. There were moments of frustration, but the children finished their lanterns before lunch and play together.
