The Getaway Car
Build a balloon powered car and help a froglet escape.
A balloon powered car built from a basket, straws, and wheels.
The story introduced a froglet named Fern, and the children built cars from baskets, straws, wheels, and balloons. The demonstration made the challenge exciting, but the construction brought practical problems to solve.
Axles needed to move freely and wheels needed to line up. Children worked with adults, tested their cars, and adjusted the builds. The sync encouraged families to return to the same challenge with different materials at home.
