The Sun Seeker’s Sanctuary
Rescue a lizard and build a home that makes use of the sun.
A decorated shelter designed to absorb warmth for a lizard.
After a zipline rescue in Hootenanny’s story, the children designed shelters for their lizards. They considered the sun’s path when placing openings and tried dark stones and other materials to absorb warmth.
Adults supported the cutting of plastic containers, and some children practiced smoothing edges with careful guidance. Finished shelters became part of ongoing imaginative play as children carried their lizards into worlds of their own.
